Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL): ‘I don’t worry about the Constitution… It doesn’t matter to me.’

Via Dana Loesch. The context of this? He’s making the case for ObamaCare and why he voted for it, and in the process uses the Obama tactic of exploiting people’s stories and experiences with health care in order to sell the unpopular new law—pathos on steroids.

Watch the clip and you’ll not only find the gotcha moment (around the 0:45 mark) but you’ll also see this elected representative confuse the Declaration of Independence with the US Constitution. The cameraman challenges Hare to point to where in the US constitution does it grant Congress the power to pass a law such as ObamaCare, to which Hare replies, “I believe that it says we have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” When he’s corrected and told that’s from the Declaration of Independence, he gets very angry and smugly declares, “It doesn’t matter to me.”

Congressional job approval right now stands at an average of 18.5%. You wonder why? This clip right here embodies the attitude of Congress: arrogant, out of touch, power hungry, and not giving a damn.
