NYC Terror Trials Protest at Foley Square (PICTURES)

I got back from Foley Square about an hour and a half ago and I am still feeling the cold. It is an absolutely miserable day in NYC. It’s the coldest day of the season so far and it’s raining. I’m surprised anyone showed up with this weather but the turnout was unexpectedly large and the crowd very enthusiastic. There were tons of signs, vinyl banners, and a sea of umbrellas.  It’s safe to say the outrage many New Yorkers are feeling over Eric Holder and the Obama administration’s decision to try 9/11 terrorists in civilian court far exceeds the inconvenience of a wet, cold day.

Curtis Sliwa, CEO of Guardian Angels:IMG_2424 Sliwa gave an incredibly passionate speech and I’m pretty sure it was improvised, too. I didn’t see him read anything. The words just flowed straight from the heart as he spoke of the terrible decision to try terrorists in civilian court and his experience in the John A. Gotti trials, in which he testified against the mobster. He mentioned the numerous mistrials of that case and alluded to all the benefits our criminal court system has to offer, something the 9/11 conspirators would surely have access to if tried in civilian court.

Unfortunately, after noticing my tomato-red hands and realizing I was getting frostbitten (stupid me forgot to bring gloves), I had to leave the event. The last speaker I saw was Theresa Mullan, mother of FDNY firefighter Michael D. Mullan who was murdered on 9/11. Not sure which other speakers I missed, if any. I have a bunch of other pictures and I’ll post them in a little bit. I might update this post with more or better pictures. I have to go through them.
