Dede Scozzafava, the Republican and Independence parties candidate, announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign for the 23rd Congressional District and releasing all her supporters.
The state Assemblywoman has not thrown her support to either Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate, or Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate.
This is huge. Scozzafava was ahead in the polls and set to win in the traditionally Republican district. That was until her pro union, pro card check, pro stimulus, pro higher taxes, pro abortion record was exposed by bloggers and support started pouring in for Hoffman. Some on the left have tried to paint Scozzafava as a moderate. She is far from it. She’s a hardcore leftist and even to the left of many Democrats. And now she’s out. Go Hoffman!
Tuesday is gonna be a long, long day.
