Is this good for Obama? Since you know, a strong leader doesn’t govern based on polls.

Not mentioned: his still-net-positive and majority approval rating is almost double his predecessor’s.

Both Soup and Peter Feld brought up Bush to counter my post about Obama’s slipping numbers. When did Bush come into the picture? When did I mention Bush? At what point did I draw a comparison between a former president and a current president? What does Bush have to do with Obama’s current numbers? The fact that Bush is automatically brought up when criticism of Obama is expressed, or negative information about him is posted, makes an argument seem bitter. Obama is our president now.
Also, it’s vastly misleading to compare Bush’s end-of-term ratings to Obama’s current ratings. During Bush’s first 8 months in office, his approval ratings were between 48% and 63%.
The Obama administration is sending very mixed signals and is not carrying a clear, concise message — a far cry from his campaign days. One day a public option is essential, then it’s not, and then it’s back on again or something. It makes him look insincere, weak and not in control hence his numbers are slipping fast. Oh and that pesky deficit thing.
If he’s gonna change gears on policy, he should do it clearly and confidently — not in a way where it seems like he’s baiting and testing public reaction.
