Yes. [Sonia Sotomayor] does have a very impressive background. Academic background. The un-personal background. But as James just alluded to, so did Clarence Thomas. That didn’t impress the Democrats. I think it’s especially audacious for Democrats to be touting, isn’t this wonderful, the first Hispanic nominee to the Supreme Court. Miguel Estrada had a pretty impressive background. He came here as a teenager from Honduras, not speaking English. Graduated from law school. And the Democrats specifically blocked him. And likely headed to the Supreme Court. So, I’m not really interested in hearing the enthusiasm for a Hispanic now after blocking Miguel Estrada, who also has an inspiring story.

Ann Coulter

I’m not the biggest Coulter fan but she absolutely nails it with this one. It’s been a little over a day and I’m already sick and tired of left-wingers exploiting this nomination as some sort of vindication of their smug self-righteousness. Not surprisingly, the most vocal celebrators are White lefties. Listen up, this means absolutely nothing to you other than the reassurance that a Liberal who’s a possible judicial activist will be confirmed to the highest court in the land. The fact that she’s a Liberal and part of a minority is just a coinciding convenience for you. It’s a tool you will use to scream “Racist!” the moment you face opposition. It is the ultimate tool in the collectivist’s arsenal.

The Sotomayor nomination was a clever political trap set by an Administration determined to further racialize this country for political gain. Politicians who prioritize re-election above anything else are the most dangerous of all.

Clarence Thomas has been viciously attacked for almost two decades by the left for not being ‘black enough’, whatever that means. Miguel Estrada was billed as ‘dangerous’ by the Democrats because he was Latino. And a myriad of other minority conservatives have been derided with utter contempt in a systematic and appalling way for years.

So excuse me if I refuse to buy into the identity politics they’re now trying to play. I am more than just a racial being — an odd concept for the collectivist to comprehend.
